First Vespa excursion to Annecy this year

As usual, I stopped at the Pont de la Caille on my way to Annecy

I found a good parking spot in front of the town hall

A Vespa LX - similar to mine - driving by

It´s difficult to stop taking pictures in this beautiful town

Other people arrive by bike ...

... and everyone is taken by the view

You need a boat to arrive at this gate, but you find Vespas as well

This one is not for rent, but other ones are

Some people bring their own boat to the lake ...

... or a kayak

No wonder this restaurant is called Le Venezia

By the time I got back to my Vespa, the parking was packed

The first time inside the Château de Coppet

This part of the park is open to the public

The gate leading to the private garden

The oldest parts of the château were built in the 14th century, but the building was fully restored when Jacques Necker, a Genevan banker bought it in 1784. He was finance minister in the government of Louis XVI of France. There is a large painting of the king at the entrance hall of the château, a gift from the king himself. Necker´s report about the financial situation of the kingdom played an important role in the French Revolution, after which he moved to Coppet.

It was his daughter, later known as Madame de Staël, who created a salon in the château, visited by famous authors and historians. Lord Byron and August Wilhelm von Schlegel were among the distinguished guests. The château is still owned by family descendants and part of it still serves as a private residence, not open to the public.

 Villa "La Paisible" in Tolochenaz

The cemetery near Audrey Hepburn´s villa
Finally someone had the idea to move the bust of Audrey Hepburn from the long closed memorial pavillon

Paying tribute at her grave again

From the cemetery you can see Vufflens-le-Château
